Having listened to all the arguments regarding the building of a 12,000 capacity mosque just 1 1/2 miles from my home I have been motivated to register my objections to the proposed planning application. There is already a great many mosques in this area, including a 1000 capacity mosque just two streets from me which opened in 1999, and the changes that have occured in this area alone in just 12 yrs have been so extreme that not only do I no longer feel comfortable living here, but like so many of my neighbors I am feeling as if I am no longer welcome [especially as I am a dog owner].

What worries me even more is the fundamentalist nature of the particular group that intends to build this very large Mosque/Masjid [over 4 times larger than the largest Anglican Cathedral in the UK] and the nature of the changes that will occur in the whole area if the building of this Masjid should go ahead, as this group is notoriously separatist and the proof of this is the excessive changes that have occurred in Saville Town Dewsbury where their present Masjid HQ lies, changes that are so extreme that even a book has been written about it called 'The Islamic Republic of Dewsbury' by Danny Lockwood, which can be obtained from Amazon. If my own area can change so much after a the opening of a mosque that is just one twelfth the size, what can we expect from one so large that is managed by such a fundamentalist Deobandi group [which is linked to Wahabism].

Im sure many others have also mentioned the huge strain on traffic that will occur and the associated noise and disturbance and how it will also affect community cohesion [which is my main focus of attention above], but I would also like to mention public safety as over the last few years the local gay community has felt severely under attack by the exponential rise in the Islamic community here, as does anyone who does not conform to strict Islamic beliefs, such as women who do not dress according to Islamic codes. Even the British Home Sect. John Reid in 2006 was told he was not welcome in Leyton as it was a Muslim area, and not one local Muslim raised any objection to these comments. Similar incidents have likewise happened in Saville Town in Dewsbury, including the stoning of local buses and attacks on pubs.

As can be seen there is a great deal of evidence to suggest the the building of this mega-Masjid will not only cause great problems for the area but will in actual fact be quite deleterious, so I hope that the Council will make the right decision on December the 5th and refuse planning permission, as it seems its own working committee has likewise recommended.

I fully support the project and construction on the following grounds:
-Accessibility: Its accessible and linked through Stratford international, west ham tube station and abbey road tram link station. Its linked through buses as well. regarding access for the disable, it is important to note that most of the participants comes in groups and the disable people are brought in cars.
HERITAGE: it will be a good addition to the already constructed venues of London Olympics .
Day Light/Sun light:
Its location is in such a place that its not going to make a light problem for any other building/etc and it will have more than enough light.
LOSS of PrivacY;
Its location is unique and already in an isolated and quiet place and it will not breach any one,s privacy.
OUTLOOK:
Since that place need development and construction and I am sure this project is going to cater for that and will result into the regenartion, beautification of the arae.
Trees:
Efforts have been made to keep the place greena nd eco friendly in the planning.

The projects isgoing to help the arae in the araes of business, activity and a help and support for thousands of younsters, ealderly of the arae

This place has been used as mosque for many years ,by making a new building it shouldn't make any difference to the use.better yet it will be good for the local younger generation to keep of the streets and into better activities.

I fully support the application. As a youth worker who has worked across various boroughs, I can assure, Mosques/Masjids provide a supportive caring place for young people to go and become more positive and law abiding. I have been attending this particular mosque and the services you can get from there over the last 6 years on and off. I can assure you there is nothing underhanded goin on there and can confirm is serves a range of people from a range of back grounds and ages. The Mosque is not being built to build a strong hold or other suggestions in previous comments. It is simply being extended to provide the existing dervice to the increasing number of followers. Considering the amount of people that gather there week in week out, I would like to ask how many reports of ASB have there been. If there was something underhanded going on in this mosque or the religion, I would have nothing to do with it. Again. I fully support the planning request and ask you to seriously consider it regardless of what propoganda is taking place.

I think something like this is needed. seeing some of the comments you can see edl and the bnp are running an effective campaign against this. but by having this mosque hopefully will make more networking opportunity with groups like them and increase community cohesion and take away any misconceptions people may have.

the mosque as it stands I ha've had some wonderful experiences. they translate in so many language and actually educate people anoit real Islam.

The centre has been there for a number of years and the facilities need major refurbishment and upgrade work.

The centre already attracts thousands of people every week and the management have proved that they are able to handle crowds and related parking issues.

The application for the additional facilities must be approved to accelerate the much needed regeneration to this neglected area of our borough. The centre will not be using public funds but will indeed be delivering a huge service to the community.

Some of the comments received here have been driven by a blind hatred and deep rooted mistrust of Muslims. The accusations are baseless and the a reasoned look into the facts will show that the centre will be a beacon for the local community and enrich the lives of everyone living around the area.

We are not born of our own will nor do we die by it! We have been put on this earth for a limited period of time. What then, does the One who sent us here, want from us? Has he sent us down in vain? Has he sent us down and forgotten? Or has he given us a way of life to follow, so we do not go astray. Every human being is free to practice a way of life (religion) that he/she believes in and also has fundamental rights. We Believe that way of life cannot be imposed on anyone, it comes from the inside through knowledge.
The United Kingdom, being a Secular country gives a right to all its people, regardless of their race or culture, a right to practice religion freely. UK being a flag carrier of Human Rights also gives a right to Muslims to practice their religion in this country.
British Muslims are worthy contributors towards the British Economy. According to 2001 Census*, Newham has 91,821 households with total population of 308,000 with 24% population of Muslims living here. The total Muslim population is 73,920 in 2001 with a 10% increase in 2012 it is 81,312.
While there are only 28 mosques serving a population of 81,312 in Newham .These mosques have an average capacity of 300 worshippers so a total of 8400.

Where are the remaining 72,912 supposed to go to offer their prayers? Most of these mosques are converted houses and do not have suitable facilities. This part of London is immensely lacking a purpose built mosque. There are only two purpose built mosques in London representing such a large community.
While collecting taxes from each household the Local Government also has a responsibility to provide proper facilities to its residents which it is not being done and hence residents have to fund these projects themselves. On the other hand look at people queuing up in huge crowds in front of these limited mosques at prayer times. A mosque for this size is severely required and will fill a gap for the shortage of space.
The construction of this mosque will not only add a beautiful landmark to the East London skyline but will also brighten the image of being a home to a multicultural and diverse community. It will bring financial benefits to this area as well, as it will attract visitors from all around the world.
People opposing this project do not want Muslims to connect to their religion and want to drag away people from religion. If the people objecting to this project are so fearful of Muslims then where were they at the time the Government was bringing Muslims into this country and getting them settled here.
The people opposing this project only want to divide communities and spread religious hate while Islam gives a message of Love and peace. The beauty of this centre is that it will be open to people of all faiths wanting to learn about Islam which is also a great opportunity to bring different communities closer. They cannot object to people learning and depriving them of knowledge and if someone feels that this is true then no law on earth stops an individual from understanding what is right or what is wrong. People objecting this even have no idea of the size of Muslim population living in Newham and what their needs are.
There is definitely a need for a proper mosque which could represent the Muslim community in Newham in order to provide a fundamental right to this community. I strongly support the construction and request Local Authority for Planning permission to be granted.

So many short-sighted and narrow-minded comments on here objecting to this proposal - they scare me and some of them are very offensive. The only consolation is that I know they are not comments from my neighbours.

This area is desperate for development. I reckon so many people who have objected have never been within a radius of 1 mile. I live nearby and I have spoken to so many people who live here and they all whole-heartedly support the development. They see the opportunities it will bring to the area. This area is run-down and it needs all the support it can get.

As such, I whole-heartedly support this for us, the local residents and community.

I cannot conceive the need of a facility this large anywhere in Europe, let alone Newham, particularly when it is for an ideology which is for such a tiny minority of people.
One only has to look at examples like the "Brick Lane" mosque to see that the architecture of these structures has no place anywhere in our country. They do not blend with any existing architecture and are designed not to do so. They are in fact an eysore and one the size of this proposed design would be a mega eyesore.
Mosques are intended to be symbols of the superiority of the islamic ideology over all others and one this size is an excellent example of that intent.
Given that the existing mosques in this country are such fertile breeding grounds for islamic extremists, dedicated to the destruction or subjugation of all other ideologies, how Newham council can contemplate such a structure is beyond logic.
It must be rejected out of hand.
